Applied Render deliver projects on time through accelerated building schedules where required. Driving quality on site, ensuring all works are compliant and completed to a high standard.

Applied Render was formed by Stuart Kilner and Sam Williams to deliver first class projects on spec and on time.

Stuart has over 25 years’ experience within the industry, in 2009 Stuart started PFT Southern as a main supplier and trainer for PFT (plastering and rendering technology leaders) Stuart also spent a year working alongside Ecorend as a lead trainer whilst also running his own successful rendering firm.

Sam started EasyRend in 2019 and has managed many successful projects. Most proud to have managed the render renovation of Battersea Cats and Dogs home. They have now combined this experience to build a quality led business of experience specialists.

The purpose of render is typically to improve external appearance, keep water out and increase resistance to weather. So render should only be applied to an existing building if the walls are sound and free of damp.

There are many different types of render application and some are more suitable to different types of builds

White House

The different types of render

Available in a wide variety of colours, the larger the grain size the more apparent the texture will be, it’s all down to personal preference, this is called aggregate and a standard size would be 1.5mm.

Colour pigmented throughout provide a low maintenance, weather resistant, hard wearing and attractive finish.

Render Repair

Sand and Cement Render

This is one of the cheaper options and gives a smooth finish but it’s not appropriate for older buildings with solid (non-cavity) walls. It’s prone to cracking, so needs to be kept in impeccable condition. It will require maintenance and painting every few years. Cement based render applied to a solid wall will prevent water evaporation on the outside of the structure means water can’t go outside, it will go inside. When S&C render is not maintained and allowed to crack and rainwater will get behind it, the water cannot evaporate. This will cause problems for your home inside and outside. It is not greatly suited for new builds or the extender part of the property as there is no flex in these products and new builds will move for the first few years and cause cracking.

Insulation Products Applied

The right solution for you will be determined by the makeup of your property and its location – an experienced and approved installer will be able to survey your home and decide which is best.

Adding external wall insulation (EWI) to your house is an effective way to reduce the amount of energy needed to heat your home, saving you money on energy bills as well as lowering your carbon footprint.

Adding external wall insulation is a good opportunity to update the appearance of your home. You could make it look pretty much identical to how it was previously or make some improvements to boost your house’s kerb appeal, possibly even increasing its value

External wall Insulation

  • Improves thermal conductivity. EWI limits the heat loss in your home. A good EWI system will hold the heat in
  • No more damp issues. Heat loss through walls creates damp in some places. Less condensation issues do the warmer property.
  • Less noise. If you live in a busy area. The systems thickness eliminates a big chunk of noise round your home.
  • No big interruption. The house is very habitable while the work is being done.
  • More attractive home. EWI is finished with a thin-coat render such as acrylic, mineral or silicone.
